I remember around the age of mid-twenties or so, I was leaving the local dentist after a routine exam. I saw this chart (similar to this
Acids in Popular Sodas Erode Tooth Enamel) and it opened my eyes to realizing I was living this “revolving-door” lifestyle (e.g. eat sweets, get my teeth clean, eat sweets, get my teeth clean, etc..). This is years after graduating from college and starting to pay my own dental bills-“adult life”! I said to myself, “I can cut down on costs if I get to the root” (e.g. start eating healthier and cut down on my soda/pop intake). I eventually would eliminate “sugary” pop, juices, candies, etc.. in my diet years later when I was diagnosed borderline “pre-diabetic“.

Are There Alternatives to Fluoride to Prevent Cavities?? Posted on October 10, 2016 by DeliteDental delitedental.net
“..Other than fluoride, factors that affect the decay process include bacteria present in our mouths, exposed root surfaces that a weaker than the enamel covered portion of our teeth, diets high in sugar and processed foods, poor brushing and flossing, reduced salivary flow and deep grooves on chewing surfaces of our teeth…”++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

“…According to the insights of Dr. Edward Mellanby, Dr. Weston Price and Ramiel Nagel, there are four main things that contribute to tooth decay: (3)
Lack of minerals in the diet (calcium deficiency, magnesium deficiency and phosphorus deficiency)
Lack of fat soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K, especially vitamin D deficiency)
Too much consumption of phytic acid-rich foods
Too much consumption of processed sugar..
2. Eliminate Phytic Acid
Phytic acid (phytate) is a mineral blocker and enzyme inhibitor found in grains, nuts, seeds and beans that can cause serious health problems in our diets. The main reason phytic acid has become an issue today is because we have stopped ancient food preparation techniques, such as sprouting or sourdough fermentation, which kills off the phytic acid….

Raw dairy is filled with the vitamins and minerals that contribute to a healthy dental fluid flow and help maintain strong teeth and promote oral wellness. Thus, it’s a great way to get cavity-free teeth. Loaded with calcium, vitamin K2, vitamin D3, magnesium,
….4. Use Mineralizing Toothpaste
First of all, I know it can get expensive, but there are several brands of fluoride-free toothpaste that you won’t have to pay a small fortune to get your hands on. Second, if you’re looking to save a buck or two and also want to remineralize your teeth in a particularly powerful way, try making your own Homemade Remineralizing Toothpaste:..”
Phytates and phytic acid. Here’s what you need to know. By Ryan Andrews precisionnutrition.com

Seeds — such as nuts, edible seeds, beans/legumes, and grains — store phosphorus as phytic acid. When phytic acid is bound to a mineral in the seed, it’s known as phytate.

To reduce the anti-nutrient effects of phytic acid in foods, try the following:
Soak, sprout, ferment, and cook plant foods.
Consume vitamin C-rich foods with meals that contain phytic acid. Dense source of vitamin C include guava, bell pepper, kiwi, oranges, grapefruit, strawberries, Brussels sprouts, cantaloupe, papaya, broccoli, sweet potato, pineapple, cauliflower, kale, lemon juice, and parsley…”

“…The Dangers of Fluoride
While a lot of people think that fluoride prevents tooth decay, most of us don’t realize that fluoride can actually cause a type of tooth decay called dental fluorosis – most commonly observed in children.
Harmful effects of fluoride have also been linked to osteoporosis, thyroid problems, endocrine problems and cancers, just to name a few. There are many studies that support these probable links available out there. We can dedicate several articles alone to how the presence of fluoride in our lives contributes to each of these.

6 Reasons to Start Using Coconut Oil as Toothpaste
April 25, 2015 articles.mercola.com
“..They found that enzyme-modified coconut oil strongly inhibits the growth of most strains of Streptococcus bacteria, including Streptococcus mutans, an acid-producing bacterium that is a major cause of tooth decay.1 It is thought that the breaking down of the fatty coconut oil by the enzymes turns it into acids, which are toxic to certain bacteria.2 Chief researcher Dr. Damien Brady said:..
Fluoride is another common chemical in conventional toothpaste. Fluoride is a toxic industrial waste product that is a poison to your body even in trace amounts…..
In fact, research has shown that it is not uncommon for young children to swallow more fluoride from toothpaste alone than is recommended as an entire day’s ingestion from all sources.15 Swallowing fluoride, as is the case with fluoridated drinking water, is especially detrimental to your health, as the science clearly demonstrates that fluoride is a toxic chemical that accumulates in your tissues over time, wreaks havoc with enzymes, and produces a number of serious adverse health effects, including neurological and endocrine dysfunction.
Children are particularly at risk for adverse effects of overexposure. If you have a young child, therefore, it’s recommended that you use a non-fluoride toothpaste, although I recommend the same for adults as well…”

‘Chocolate-Based’ Toothpaste Remineralizes Enamel
“..The study evaluated the enamel-strengthening potential of Theodent (Theodent) toothpaste containing the patented compound Rennou (Theodent). The active ingredient of Rennou is theobromine, a compound that is prominent in chocolate; it also contains calcium and phosphate. Thoedent does not contain fluoride…”
In addition, Dr. Romaine noted that the “movement for a more natural product” by consumers indicates there is a market for a non-fluoride-containing product. “The ADA has been big believer in fluoride, and it seems to have been helpful in many communities, but in the current culture, people are interested in reaching out for more natural products,” she pointed out…”
The academic research behind Theodent was first conducted in the 1980s by Dr. Tetsuo Nakamoto, a co-founder of the company and a professor at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. He studied the effects of nutritional constituents on pre-natal teeth. In collaboration with Professors Alexander Falster and William Simmons, experts in analytical geology, Nakamoto found that dark chocolate without the fat and sugar helps prevent the development of caries in its early stages. They discovered that enamel remineralization occurs due to its theobromine constituent, a cocoa extract similar in structure to caffeine, effective in fighting cavities and strengthening tooth enamel. The finding caused extensive researches and led to the creation of Rennou revolutionary formula, the active ingredient of Theodent toothpaste.”

Your oral-health history
The size and location of the cavity

How long will it last?
What will your insurance cover?

10 Signs Your Natural Dentist is Truly Holistic by Sarah Updated: January 25, 2018 thehealthyhomeeconomist.com
“..The most important rule for selecting a natural dentist is not taking the dentist’s word for it!
Prepare a list of questions beforehand and insist on a consultation one on one with the dentist or at the very least, (nicely) grilling the receptionist before agreeing to any treatment for yourself or your children. Once you’ve found a natural dentist that seems promising, here are a few things to check off the list before deciding that your natural dentist is well and truly holistic.
