Enhancing Creativity

The rational left brain hemisphere can stop the carefree right brain hemisphere from exploring new ideas. You can re-train your brain to think outside-the-box by using methods that enhance creativity.

Contour drawing is a simple artist’s exercise that develops an individual’s ability to perceive “spatial” relationships–that is, how physical objects occupy visual space.

Place an object on the table in front of you. Follow the outside edges of the object with your eyes. Using a blank sheet of paper and a pencil, draw a continuous outline of the item without looking down at your paper or lifting your pencil. As you do this, notice a strong temptation to stop and examine the drawing. That is your left brain trying to make sense of a right-brained activity.

If you enjoy the game of identifying a melody by only a few notes, it is because you are allowing your creative side to take control. Playing a musical instrument “by ear” without sheet music or composing an original tune are additional methods of right brain enhancement.

Brain Fitness

Whatever your cognitive tendency, left- or right-brained deficiencies can be corrected through brain training exercises. Achieve optimal brain fitness by building a balanced creative and analytic brain.

Are you Left Brain? Get more creative with this Right Brain Workout. Improve your memory.

“Published on May 3, 2014

Most people have been trained to become Left brain – in their jobs, at school or College. But today’s world needs you to be more creative, have more ideas and use your imagination.
Keep practicing with our FREE Brain Tune Course: http://memory.foundation/brain-tune

Are you mostly a left-brainer? (‘Left brain’ people are often busy, systematic, notice details and have an orderly, common-sense approach to life.) If you are, you probably find generating new ideas or being imaginative (mostly Right brain skills) a bit of a challenge. But it doesn’t need to be.

You already have Right brain skills – it is just that school and work mostly reward left-brain thinking and practice. So your right brain gets a bit under-used. When you were very young you used all of your senses – seeing, hearing, touching, tasting and smelling things – that’s how you learned to understand your world.

To be creative and imaginative, you need to give your senses a chance to work again – this video has some pointers for practice. It is just one of the Memory Foundation’s many brain tools which help you improve your brain and grow new brain connections. Dr Allison Lamont PhD, MA, M.APS and Gillian Eadie MEd, BA, Dip Tchg focus on challenging your brain to grow the new brain connections you need as a buffer against memory loss in older age. Baby boomers need this information to keep brain fit! It’s a prescription-free way to fight back against Alzheimer’s and dementia. When you are 50+ is the best time to start.

You’ll find lots more at: http://memory.foundation

And you can get access to more help with the three-part brain training program, Brain Tune, that teaches you strategies for overcoming those annoying everyday forgetting like people’s names, where you left the car-keys and why you didn’t remember to get milk at the supermarket.

And you’ll love this easy-read best-seller, ‘Seven Second Memory: Memory Techniques that will change your life’ written by Dr Lamont and Gillian Eadie.. Sold in 40 countries. It’s a great gift for your parents, too:
http://memory.foundation/product/seve…

Not sure if you are Left brain or Right brain?

You use your Right brain for things that engage your your creative side and Left brain for actions that require reasoning and logic. A ‘Right-brain’ people tend to be more relaxed, artistic and imaginative.

You’ve probably heard that people are supposed to be one or the other and, in a way, there is some evidence that each of the two hemispheres of the brain tend to be activated for different kinds of tasks.

But the truth is, of course, that EVERY memory task works better if ALL areas of the brain are used.

Keep your brain challenged and brain-fit, no matter what age you are. And come on over to http://memory.foundation for lots more about these topics.

Did you try the Right brain/Left brain exercise that helps you practise using both sides of the brain?
Try it several times: http://youtu.be/DWi9c9neJ3U

Cancer Types: How to “fight” Ovarian?

CAUSES

Do We Know What Causes Ovarian Cancer? cancer.org
“..There are many theories about the causes of ovarian cancer. Some of them came from looking at the things that change the risk of ovarian cancer. For example, pregnancy and taking birth control pills both lower the risk of ovarian cancer. Since both of these things reduce the number of times the ovary releases an egg (ovulation), some researchers think that there may be some relationship between ovulation and the risk of developing ovarian cancer.

Also, we know that tubal ligation and hysterectomy lower the risk of ovarian cancer. One theory to explain this is that some cancer-causing substances may enter the body through the vagina and pass through the uterus and fallopian tubes to reach the ovaries. This would explain how removing the uterus or blocking the fallopian tubes affects ovarian cancer risk. Another theory is that male hormones (androgens) can cause ovarian cancer…”

Cellular Memory Healing: How to Clear Limiting Beliefs and Emotional Wounds at the Cellular Level BY DR. ALEXANDER LLOYD consciouslifestylemag.com
‘..So what exactly do we mean when we say “cellular memories”? Really, we are simply talking about your memories. Researchers began adding the word cellular because we used to believe that all memories were stored in the brain—until, over many years with lots of patients, surgeons removed every part of the brain and found the memories were always still there. The experiences of organ transplant recipients also support this idea. Now we know that memories are stored in cells all over the body, but they’re still just what we would call our “memories,” which is how I’ll refer to them throughout the rest of this. Also, out of the various terms writers and researchers have used for cellular memory, I’ve come to prefer the term that King Solomon used, particularly since he was the earliest source I found for this concept: the issues of the heart. But to distinguish this concept from our cardiovascular heart, I call it the “spiritual heart.” So when I refer to the spiritual heart throughout the rest of the piece, you can just as easily substitute cellular memory or the subconscious or unconscious mind. I simply mean the place where our good and bad memories, the source of all our life issues and problems, reside…”

pt.2 Healing Codes -Another way to Heal the heart letusreason.org
‘..

Cellular memory is that scientists now believe that illnesses, such as cancer, occur when a bad cellular memory replaces a good one. Bad cellular memories can contribute to depression, addiction, and psychological trauma as well. Scientists are working to find out how cells develop these memories, and how they can be changed.

Many in the medical community feel that when we get sick, we need to address five core issues: negative emotions, negative thought patterns, conscious beliefs that are not what they should be, actions and behaviors, and the physiology of their body. But Loyd says these five issues are not the ailments themselves, but merely the symptoms of a deeper, underlying problem. He explains that what is really at the core of all illness is what he calls the issues of the heart, or your core spiritual issues.

Heal the cell memories, replace the bad ones with good ones, and pain and illness will disappear.

As King Solomon said 3000 years ago, “Guard your heart above everything else, for from it flows all of the issues of life.” Addressing matters of the heart, or spiritual beliefs, will allow you to heal your cellular memories. And once the memories have been changed, the cells themselves are able to be healed, and your hypothalamus turns off the stress signals to the body. This, in turn, allows your body to heal. (Cellular Memory and its Role in Healing by Jack Hugo on May 2, 2012)

So what he is saying is that cells go bad from experiences, stress; and his new method of healing can remove this damage.

“The healing code is not a religious thing it works like gravity, The Healing codes work because of physical laws of nature” It is not a religious process but a physical mechanical process. (Larry Napier- spiritual foundations of healing). If that is so, then why do they refer to it as a spiritual healing? Why do they use the Bible Scriptures to support it?..”

Fasting – Healed Of Ovarian Cancer freedomyou.com
Fasting Testimony By Sammy Hoffard
“..She told me to start by boosting my immune system. An Internet search repeatedly came up with the word, “fasting”. Was that a joke? How could starving myself cure cancer?

First, I found a reputable website which not only taught members the proper and safe way to fast, it also offered ongoing support, encouragement and a means of having all my questions answered along the way. It also had a great leaning towards Christian spiritual matters, but at the time I paid no attention to that. I began with a five day juice fast, then later did a seven, ten, and a fifteen day fast: becoming more able to handle the detox symptoms, and familiarizing myself with the challenges which come with adopting a whole new system of nutrition. I learned exactly how the body begins to heal itself and how the very building blocks of the human body are actually restored and renewed through proper fasting and changes in lifestyle and outlook. My immune system was super-charging…”

Research suggests half of British women are confused by the food advice given during pregnancy. We’re supposed to eat healthily, but what and when? The latest approach is to tailor your diet to support your baby’s development at each stage of pregnancy. And, as it’s what your body needs, it suits your cravings, too. Bring it on.

Iron and Pregnancy: Why You Need It, How Much, and How to Get It By Paige Fowler parents.com

Iron is a crucial mineral needed during pregnancy. Here’s why and how to get enough for you and your developing baby.
“..Why You Need Iron

First, some basics: Your body uses iron to make hemoglobin, a substance in red blood cells that transports oxygen throughout your body. During pregnancy, your body supplies blood and oxygen to your baby, so the demand for iron goes up to keep up with the increase in blood supply. In fact, you need about twice the amount of iron—27 mg per day—than you do when you’re not pregnant.

In addition to taking a supplement, upping how much iron you’re getting in your diet will also make a difference. Not all iron-containing foods are created equal, however. There are two types of iron: heme and non-heme. Non-heme iron is mostly found in beans, vegetables, dried fruits, eggs, whole grains, and iron-fortified products; heme iron comes from animal sources, such as red meat, fish, and poultry. “Your body absorbs heme iron best, so it’s a good idea to especially focus on those foods to help keep your levels up during pregnancy,” Blake says. She recommends downing two servings of red meat per week during pregnancy…”

Dietary Fats: What’s Good and What’s Bad familydoctor.org
“..“Bad” fats

Saturated and trans fats are bad for you. Less than 7% of your total daily calories should come from saturated fats. Less than 1% should come from trans fats. In a 2,000-calorie daily diet, that’s less than 15 grams of saturated fat and less than 2 grams of trans fat.

Saturated fats occur naturally in some animal products. This includes meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy items, such as cheese, cream and whole milk. Palm, coconut, and other tropical oils, as well as cocoa butter, contain saturated fat.

Trans fats are made when liquid oils get turned into solid fats. This process is called hydrogenation. Trans fats are found in a lot of processed foods. All food companies have to list trans fat on nutrition fact labels. However, foods can have up to .5 grams of trans fat per serving and still show 0 grams. Check the ingredients list and look for the words “hydrogenated oil.”

You should limit saturated fats and avoid trans fats. They often are found in fast food, fried foods, and snack foods. They also can be in desserts and commercial baked goods. These bad fats increase your LDL (bad) cholesterol levels. They decrease your HDL (good) cholesterol levels….

“Good” fats

Replace bad fats with good fats. Studies show that good fats can help lower your total cholesterol level. Omega-3 fatty acids have good health benefits. They can decrease your risk of heart attack and inflammation.

Monounsaturated fats are found in canola, olive, and peanut oils. They are in a variety of nut oils and butters. Avocados, legumes (beans and peas), and seeds also contain these fats.

Polyunsaturated fats are found in vegetable oils like corn, sunflower, and safflower oil. They are in soybeans, legumes, grains, and nuts. Several seeds, like sesame and sunflower, also contain these fats.

Omega-3 fatty acids are usually found in seafood. This includes salmon, herring, sardines, and mackerel. Flaxseeds, flaxseed oil, and walnuts also contain omega-3s…”

“.. Both plant- and animal-based omega-3 have their first double-bond in the third position — hence the name “omega-3.” However, the length of the carbon chain of each omega-3 fat makes a significant difference when it comes to bioavailability and biological effect.

Marine animal-based omega-3 (fatty fish, fish oil and krill oil) primarily contain docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), a long-chained PUFA consisting of 22 carbons and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), which has 20 carbons.
Plant-based omega-3 (found in flaxseed, flaxseed oil, chia seeds, walnuts and leafy greens, for example) contain alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a shorter-chained PUFA consisting of 18 carbons. They are completely devoid of DHA and EPA.

Fat is another important source of calories. In small amounts, fat is a key fuel source. It serves other functions, such as supporting good skin and hair. Do not replace carbs in your diet with fats. This can slow you down, because your body has to work harder to burn fat for energy. Fats should make up no more than 30% of your daily calories. When you can, choose unsaturated fats, like olive oil and nuts. These are better for your health than saturated and trans fats. Too much fat or the wrong kinds can cause health problems. Hip pain

Because the femur is part of the knee

This posture has implications at the hip. When the knee is always rotating inward, it’s because the upper leg is turning in and the lower leg is turning out. Where does the upper leg start? Way up at the hip. While the hip can deal with rotational forces much better than the knee, too much rotation in one direction can piss it off as well.

Corrective Methods For Common Postural Deviations: The Anterior Pelvic Tilt July 7, 2006 by MindandMuscle Nutrition
woman lifting weight plateby: Marc McDougal mindandmuscle.net
‘..
Your chest position effects your pelvic position. The Thoracic Cage is roughly the area from your shoulders to the bottom of your ribs, and movement here causes a muscular chain reaction all the way down to your pelvis. According to a 2002 study in the European Spine Journal, researchers determined, “The findings of this study show that thoracic cage anterior/posterior translations cause significant changes in thoracic kyphosis (26 degrees ), lumbar curve, and pelvic tilt.” The stability of this area is governed by many muscles, including the internal/external obliques, the lats, the transversus abdominus, and the deep muscles on the spine called the multifidus. Tightness or instability of any of these can cause shifting of the Cage, which can then translate to a shift at the pelvis.
A pelvic tilt will most certainly cause the muscles of the lower limb to compensate. It’s not always easy to tell what caused what, but usually one will find an internally rotated femur accompanying a forward pelvic tilt. Simply put, this is when the knee starts to turn inward during standing, walking, squatting, etc.

And the good news is that it can be corrected. But first we have to identify it, know what causes it, and how it may interfere with your body’s own natural biomechanics. Well it just so happens that today’s video covers all that and more. So sit back – uh I mean stand up (cause it’s better for you) – and enjoy!

And like I promised in the video above here is the exercise routine that will help correct your hip/pelvic elevation…

What Causes Loss of Cervical Lordosis?

Loss of the healthy curve in your neck can be due to a combination of factors. Sometimes, it’s not one event in particular, but a combination of accidents or injuries and repetitive, prolonged actions, such as constantly looking down at a phone or computer. This repetitive posture puts strain on the body over time and can lead to issues with cervical lordosis. “This addresses Lumbar Hyperlordosis leading to lower back pain. Lordosis is caused by too much anterior pelvic tilt in the hips making the lower back over extend or over arch. This put way too much stress on the lower spine and SI joint. It is an extremely unstable position to be in and will almost always lead to pain or injury. This simple exercise attempts to put the lower back into a more neutral position through different ranges of motion. This is a stretch that you can do as much as you want to restore flexion to your lower spine. Remember that your spine has not been moved in this position in a long time so you may possibly feel some discomfort at first. But don’t worry this uncomfortable position will soon feel better and better and will hopefully become more of a neutral position for you. Try this stretch and exercise to relieve the lower back pain caused by lordosis and anterior pelvic tilt…”

This should be present in the range of 20°-40°.[1], [8] Thoracic hyperkyphosis is a defect that is easy to see from the side, in a lateral point of view. CAUSES

Kyphosis Causes and Treatment By Jeffrey M. Spivak, MD Peer Reviewed spine-health.com
“…Osteoporosis-related kyphosis. The most common cause of kyphosis in adults is from vertebral fracture due to osteoporosis. This can occur in both men and women, but is more common in females than in males.2 As osteoporosis weakens the vertebral bones in the spine, the vertebrae are susceptible to fracture that typically occurs in a wedge shape – with the front of the vertebra collapsing and losing its height and the back of the vertebra maintaining its height. As the front of the bone is crushed, that segment of the spine tips forward, resulting in an excessive kyphotic curve and forward stooped posture. Treatment typically will address the underlying osteoporosis (to prevent future fractures) as well as pain reduction and possibly surgical repair of the fracture…”

As you spend time in a flexed (bent) position, your head begins to retain a forward position. This causes increased stress and weight on the spine and neck. The head should be directly over the body, creating a straight line from your shoulders to your ears.

By practicing proper posture and engaging in exercises to strengthen the back and neck, you can lighten the load. This will give your spine a break. ..”

Raising estrogen levels can be done in a variety of ways, but it must be done under a doctor’s care, as too much estrogen can have negative health effects…”

16 Signs Your Estrogen Is Low — And What You Can Do About It bustle.com
“..For some people, having low estrogen is genetic. Other people end up with low levels of this hormone because they have a thyroid disorder, ovarian cysts, or because they’ve undergone chemo or radiation. If you have very low body fat (due to too much exercise or not eating enough), you might also be causing your body to have low estrogen. If your weight was really low when you were going through puberty (for instance, if you were a gymnast or you were struggling with an eating disorder), that may have caused delays in development of your secondary sex characteristics.

Having low estrogen means that your levels of this hormone are low compared to the other hormones in your system. Estrogen levels vary widely from person to person, so it’s more important to know how the levels of this hormone changes in your body over time, as opposed to the actual measurable amount. Your estrogen levels decline naturally as you get closer to menopause, so many of the signs of low estrogen are what you’ve heard of as menopause symptoms — but low estrogen can actually cause a lot of other changes. It’s important to note that these symptoms can vary from person to person, and some of them are dependent on how low your estrogen actually dips…”

The following is a list of foods that are known for containing excessive amounts of phytoestrogens. It is important to keep in mind that estrogen rich foods may have unwanted effects in men.

Soybean products: Soy is a rich source of phytoestrogen and comes in a variety of easy to consume forms like soy milk, tofu, or edamame. Soy products are the greatest source of isoflavones, a class of phytoestrogen that can be easily consumed in your diet. Soy is also a great source of protein, making it an ideal meat substitute for vegans and vegetarians.

Flaxseeds: These little seeds contain up to three times the phytoestrogens of soybeans, but your body will not reap their benefits unless they are cracked or ground prior to consumption. Also high in fiber, flaxseeds will make you feel full and may aid in weight loss and in the reduction of cholesterol.

Sesame seeds: Whole seeds—or even sesame oil—contain lignans (a chemical compound found in plants) that possess phytoestrogens. The seeds are also loaded with fiber and are a great source of minerals.

Beans: They are relativity high in phytoestrogens, but they don’t get much attention. Beans are known for having a high fiber content, which helps to control cholesterol levels. Types of beans include peas, pinto bean, and lima beans

Dried Fruit: Not only are they a healthy snack, but they also contain a modest amount of phytoestrogens. It is advised to limit how much you eat, as dried fruit does contain a lot of calories. Apricots, dates, and prunes are good sources.

Bran: Wheat bran is a reliable way get your dose of phytoestrogens. It can be found in muffins, bread, and cereals.

Nuts: Several types of nuts, including pistachios, chestnuts, hazelnuts, and walnuts, are great sources of phytoestrogens.

Alfalfa Sprouts: Naturally low in calories and carbohydrates, alfalfa sprouts are an excellent choice.

Chickpeas: A reliable source of phytoestrogens that are also high in fiber and protein.
